Where we are on teaching and learning the language? In order to improve Chinese teaching and learning quality in Maine, there are many things we have to think about and ask ourselves what more can we do? The Chinese Language and Culture Center (CLCC), Bangor Chinese School, in collaboration with the University of Maine, the Education Department of Maine state and Husson College will offer a whole day work shop on Chinese teaching and learning on Saturday, October 4 at Husson College.
1. The basic knowledge about Chinese language, such as, pinyin rules, tones, strokes, radicals, writing rules, sentences structures and grammar, etc…
2. Should we be teaching and learning pinyin, and when is it good to progress to characters?
3. Should we teach student character writing in a modern (computer) age?
4. Because Chinese is different from other languages, what are the best teaching strategies in the classroom? What methods can we apply to help students to have fun learning the language efficiently?
5. How do successful students best learn Chinese?
6. Share the information of the First National Chinese Language Conference, by Jing Zhang.
